Iconic modern art-inspired design from Cashin’s collaboration with the great Scottish cashmere manufacturer
In 1964, the great American designer Bonnie Cashin started spending time in Scotland, designing cashmere sweaters for Ballantyne in uniquely inventive African- and modern art-inspired patterns. This one is bright pink with a green and light pink intarsia pattern of squared circles and dots. The cashmere is best quality, and the construction is wonderful. There are even little ribbon patches over the seams inside the bottom of the armholes, for comfort and durability. The gold tone metal buttons are straight-sided and round…also a very modern look. Grosgrain ribbon lines the button placket. The sleeves are 3/4 in length. This cardigan is truly an iconic piece of fashion history.
